The Winnsboro City Council meets regularly at City Hall, 501 S. Main Street, the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 P.M.  The public is cordially invited to attend these meetings.

City Elections are held the First Saturday in May.  Early Voting is held in the Office of the City Secretary, 501 S. Main Street, and Regular Voting is held at the City Auditorium located on Wheeler Drive in the City Park.

Form of Government
The City of Winnsboro is a Type A general-law municipality. The Administration is responsible for the overall operation of the City and implementing the policies established by the Mayor and the City Council. The six-member at-large Council serves two-year terms with annual elections being held on the first Saturday in May as provided by Chapter 41 of the Election Code. To be eligible for the position of mayor, a person must be a registered voter and must have resided within the municipal limits for at least 12 months preceding the Election Day.  To be eligible for the office of council member, a person must be a registered voter and must reside within the City for a period of six (6) months. City Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm.  Agendas are posted in the glass encased bulletin board on the south side of the building on the Friday prior to the meeting. All meetings are open to the public. Residents are encouraged to participate.
