City Services

The Winnsboro Fire Department serves the citizens of Winnsboro and the surrounding area.  We have a primary response area of 125 square miles which includes portions of Wood, Franklin, and Hopkins Counties.  The Department was established in 1913 and the first new fire truck was purchased in 1915 at a cost of $3500.00 from Dallas Truck and Body Works.

Tommy Carden currently serves as the Fire Chief, with a department consisting of 32 members.

 10 - Certified firefighters through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection
  8 - Certified EMT-Basic through the Texas Department of Health
  2 - Certified EMT-Intermediate through the Texas Department of Health
  1 - Certified EMT-Paramedic through the Texas Department of Health
  9 - Certified SCUBA divers

Services provided by the Winnsboro Fire Department include fire suppression, search and rescue, vehicle extrication, water rescue and recovery, and public fire safety education. Our department currently operates 3 pumper trucks, 2 brush trucks, 1 tanker truck and a dozer unit for forest and wild land firefighting.
